Hi everyone,
I was hoping you guys could help me come up with some ideas based on your own experiences. In my early 20s, I suffered from flushing for the first time after applying an acne lotion on my face. Before this I never flushed to anything, no typical triggers like sun, exercise, heat, alcohol etc.), and after the application I was flushing daily to almost everything. I decided to get a series of seven intense pulsed light treatments and bam no more flushing. This lasted for eight years, and during this time I had no triggers. I could tan, drink alcohol, be in the heat no problems. It made me think that I must have just been stress and that I could not have had rosacea.
However, for the past nine months I have been having a terrible time. This all started after I used a toner. I put the toner on no problems and woke up the next morning with peeling red skin and broken capillaries across my nose. Over the past months, I have had three intense pulsed light treatments that have stopped the flushing, but I still have a burning sensation on my right cheek. My skin is still very dry, and I still peel on my forehead, nose and cheek but it seems in terms of reactivity it is only on my cheek.
My question is does this sound like rosacea? My only symptom right now seems to be a burning sensation that only flares in heat. I have tried vanicream and vaseline as a moisturizer but I turn red after using and I am just so concerned that this will trigger flushing again. Do you have any recommendations for lotions? I am currently just using Cetaphil once a day. I am so hesitant to try anything else.
Thank you!
Rosacea Remission? Does this sound like anyone else's rosacea?
