Seborrheic & contact dermatitis - I finally found an amazing product that works

mardi 18 août 2015

So I have seborrheic dermatitis (due to Malassezia) on my scalp, eyebrows, possibly eyelids and cheeks along with contact dermatitis. I am pretty much allergic to all commercial cosmetic products, they either cause an allergic reaction resulting in redness or they completely disrupt my skin barrier (the acid mantle) due to harsh preservatives. When the acid mantle is disturbed bacteria and fungi invade the skin causing an infection that results in acne.

After searching through this forum I have found an amazing product for my seb derm called Kelual DS Cream by Ducray. This cream is designed specially for sensitive skin or people suffering from contact dermatitis. I use it only 1-2 times a week on my face and my seb derm is completely gone. It is based on caprylic acid and is paraben and fragrance free. I would suggest this to anyone who suffers from contact dermatitis. It is the best product I have ever used.

Ingredients:

WATER (AQUA), CAPRYLIC/CAPRIC TRIGLYCERIDE, CYCLOMETHICONE, DICAPRYLYL ETHER, CETEARYL ALCOHOL , ACETAMIDE MEA, GLYCOLIC ACID, GUANIDINE CARBONATE, GLYCERYL STEARATE, POLYMETHYL METHACRYLATE, CETEARETH-33, CROTAMITON , GLYCYRRHETINIC ACID , PIROCTONE OLAMINE, SERENOA SERRULATA FRUIT EXTRACT, TETRASODIUM EDTA , TOCOPHEROL
Paraben-free

I also have very mild rosacea due to demodex on my cheeks so I mix pure tea tree oil with the Kelual DS Cream at around 30/70 and my skin has never looked better.

For my scalp I use Nizoral Ketoconazole 2% (the pink one) and it is the only shampoo that does not cause my scalp to break out however it is not ideal. I have just ordered MCT Oil and I will probably try adding it to the shampoo so it does not dry out my scalp so much. I'm trying an antifungal shampoo from Ducray next.

I also found a soap that does not cause contact dermatitis but it's based on palm kernel oil which completely dries out my skin. When I cleaned my ears with it I got acne in my ears. So I am thinking about making my own soap by adding MCT oil to the existing soap.

Hope this helps someone.

PS: Coconut oil made my condition much much worse which proves that my seb derm is caused by Malassezia. Thanks Tom Busby for digging up the MCT oil study.
