Hey everyone, before I move on to my question I just want to give everyone my quick backstory. Basically 3 days ago my gf said to me "have you caught the sun at all on your face?" Due to the fact I hadn't been out the house much over the last week or so (certainly not long enough to get sunburnt) I was surprised at this, and after a bit of research I have self-diagnosed myself as having mild Rosacea. Not exactly ideal at 20. I am seeing the dermatologist tomorrow and will discover what I have to do next to halt or even reverse some of the condition.
Basically my question to everyone is about a cure, more so how does everyone feel about the chances of a cure in the near future (in the next 10 years)? I know some are scepticle whether there will ever be a cure, but just recently great strides have been made to curing the skin condition vitiligo, and I'm sure in the past many would have regarded that as 'incurable'. It just slightly frustrates me that with all what science can do nowadays with talk of head transplants and a slowdown of even ageing itself, not to forget the fact they plan to launch a spaceship to Mars in 2020!, that they seem unable to sort out redness on a person's face. I fully understand that as bad as Rosacea is, it's not a life-threatening disease and I don't expect all the top Scientists and doctors to treat it as a priority, however it is a very common condition (with literally millions with it) that can be detrimental to the life quality of the people that have it. Perhaps due to ignorance or wishful thinking I personally fail to believe that this is something that I will just have to accept that I will spend the rest of my life with and that there will one day be a cure. I think gene therapy is the area most likely to garner success (the popularity and development of gene therapy is increasing rapidly amongst Scientists) but that first we need to uncover just what exactly Rosacea is and what causes it (which again in 2015 is pretty surprising that we don't know the answer).
