New and worried

mardi 1 septembre 2015

Hi everyone!

I'm currently very worried about my skin and was hoping someone can help me out. I haven't been diagnosed with rosacea but I have seen a dermatologist for acne. I've had adult acne for 10 years now and while most of it is controlled with products and diet, the skin on my nose remains difficult to manage. I have very oily skin on my T-zone, but particularly extreme on my nose. Because of this, I have enlarged pores, constant black heads and some redness around the sides and a bit on the front (nothing too jarring). I have never experienced swelling or anything, nor do I have any rough texture (I use BHA and rx retinoids regularly so the skin there is smooth, despite my crater sized pores!).

Now, the reason I'm worried is because I'm afraid I have rosacea on my nose or what seems to be the beginning stages of rhinophyma. I naturally have a rather large and thick nose that I'm self conscious of, and the enlarged reddish pores makes it worse. I'm afraid that it will turn into rhinophyma and become worst. I've tried contacting my dermatologist but he's on vacation, so I'll have to wait. I saw him earlier this year when I was getting a prescription for Retin-A and while he made sure to examine my nose, he didn't mention anything about rosacea or rhinophyma.

Does having a very oily nose, with blackheads, enlarged pores, and some redness automatically mean one has rosacea or the beginning stages of rhinophyma? I really hope not! Cry:
