Newbie with strange case of Rosacea

jeudi 10 septembre 2015

Hi there, my name is Marissa and I've been lurking on this board for a while now but never posted. I'm 20 years old and have always had extremely pale skin with absolutely no redness. A year ago I abruptly withdrew from SSRI antidepressants (Zoloft) and woke up during a horrible withdrawal around the fourth day to find my pale skin was bright red with enlarged capillaries everywhere .Not only that but I had moderately severe facial edema. I literally didnt recognize myself in the mirror. I saw a derm who officially diagnosed me with subtype 1 rosacea and gave me some useless topicals that didn't work. I have
read stories of other people also abruptly withdrawing from SSRI's suffering from the onset of rosacea among a long list of other persistent medical problems months to years after stopping (I won't get into those), but no advice on what to do about it. I'm super frustrated and confused because it has completely changed my face shape to the point where I don't look like the same person. Whats strange is that two-three cups off coffee alleviates 60-75% of the redness, yet Ive read mostly the opposite that caffeine worsens rosacea. There was actually a three day period six months ago where I was drinking a lot of coffee and my rosacea was in complete remission and my edema was gone. The problem with this is that I always get rebound redness a day or two later where its even worse
I know this is a long rant but my question is does anyone else on here have a story even remotely similar to mine and any advice? I'm really just shocked and angry that this happened to me. It goes beyond just having some redness, I don't even look like the same person anymore due to the edema. I have a naturally very angular face, defined jawline and prominent cheekbones. Now its more roundish, wide and asymmetrical.
I also have burning and stinging that drives me crazy. I can't afford IPL but I am so sad and desperate yet there seems to be mixed reviews on long term results. I'm just lost.
